My name is Filip Vandewal and I am an award-winning cinematographer.
Films I’ve shot have won multiple major awards and have been screened at scores of major international film festivals, such as Cannes, Palm Springs, Clerment-Ferrand, Brussels… and in movie theaters worldwide.
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to shoot for major production companies such as Lionsgate and Netflix and to work with actors like Harvey Keitel, Frank Grillo, Jamie Pressley, Ty Simpkins, etc…
The visually fascinating short film ‘Moonglow’ received a ‘Golden Palm’ nomination at the Cannes International Film Festival. My work drew international attention and resulted in lensing feature films in Belgium, France, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Russia and The United States.
My commercial work includes major international brands such as Audi, Champion, Target, Microsoft, Universal Studios, etc… and has been shortlisted for the ‘Cannes Lions’ and ‘Clio Awards’.
I’m speaking English, Dutch, French, German and Brazilian Portuguese and have a passion for travelling and exploring the world.
I’m a Belgian native, and graduated from the Brussels film school RITS. I currently reside in Los Angeles and am a member of the International Cinematographers Guild – Local 600 and the Society of Belgian Cinematographers, SBC.
